Lunar Calendar Converter
Browse a full lunar month calendar or convert any date between Gregorian and Vietnamese lunar, with zodiac year, Can Chi (sexagenary cycle), and traditional holidays.
About this tool
The Lunar Calendar Converter turns any Gregorian (solar) date into its Vietnamese lunar equivalent and back, and shows a full lunar month at a glance. Each day is paired with its Can Chi (sexagenary cycle) name, the animal of the year, the lunar leap-month status and traditional Vietnamese holidays such as Tết Nguyên Đán and Tết Trung Thu.
It is built for anyone planning around the Vietnamese lunar calendar — choosing a wedding or ground-breaking date, remembering a death anniversary (ngày giỗ), or simply checking what today is in âm lịch. All astronomical calculations run in your browser, so no personal dates are ever sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the Vietnamese lunar calendar or the Chinese one?
The converter uses the Vietnamese lunar calendar, which is computed for Vietnam's time zone (UTC+7). Most dates match the Chinese calendar, but a few differ near midnight because of the time-zone offset.
What is Can Chi?
Can Chi is the sexagenary cycle: a 60-unit sequence pairing ten Heavenly Stems (Can) with twelve Earthly Branches (Chi). Every year, month and day has its own Can Chi name, for example Giáp Tý.
How does the tool handle leap months?
Vietnamese lunar years occasionally add a leap month to stay aligned with the seasons. The converter detects these and labels the repeated month as a leap month (tháng nhuận) so conversions stay accurate.
Are my dates uploaded anywhere?
No. The astronomical formulas run entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.
How far back and forward does it work?
The algorithm is reliable across the modern range typically used for anniversaries and planning, covering well over a century in either direction.
